Former Washington Gov. Jay Inslee joins Grounded

Former Washington Gov. Jay Inslee says you should hold on to your hats… because an AI-driven increase in energy demand combined with federal policies could mean a big hit to your bottom line. Inslee discusses his new work with Climate Power in an effort to hold the federal government accountable for policies he says will lead to even higher energy prices and more carbon emissions. Plus, how it all impacts agriculture and the clean energy industry.

Climate Power released a report earlier this year about what it calls Trump’s unfolding energy crisis. The report shows household electric bills are up 10% nationally since the inauguration of Trump 2.0, specifically citing lost jobs and rising utility costs as a result of slashing clean energy sources in the “Big, Beautiful Bill.”

The report includes a graph, which shows the most clean energy jobs lost by state— Arizona topped the list with 7,925 jobs lost or delayed, which Climate Power says is the equivalent to $1,851,200,000 in lost or delayed investments.

“Companies have canceled, delayed, or laid off staff at 123 energy projects in 33 states, representing over $33.87 billion in lost investment,” the report says.

Inslee predicts utility rates will go even higher as we see these lost projects coincide with the increasing energy demand from data centers.

“We’re trying to hold [President Trump] to account. We’re trying to share information to the public in any realm that we can,” Inslee said. “The guy says he wants to be dominant in energy. and the first thing he does is cut off several of our least expensive sources of energy.”

“It is so contrary to his America First provision,” Inslee continued. “We should be developing these technologies, not just China. He’s giving these industries to China and Korea. I’d like to be dominant, but you can’t be dominant when you refuse to do a lot of the development of the industry. That’s what’s going on. So hold on to your hats.”

In the headline portion of this episode, we talked at length about the latest Epstein document dump from the House Oversight Committee. As promised, you can find the released “birthday book” file here with redactions. A warning: there are some deeply disturbing images in this book, which show a pattern of Epstein’s predatory behavior as seen through the eyes of those close to him. You’ve likely seen some of the more prominent drawings, but there are other entries getting less attention that are equally disturbing.

Make sure you join us Tuesday, Sept. 16 when we go live with Aaron Parnas!
